This year is already tragic 🥹
Hello! I’ve been debating whether to share my journey with multiple sclerosis. Honestly, I felt ashamed. I’m only 24 years old, and when the right side of my body started going numb, I was extremely terrified. I spent months limping, dismissed by medical professionals who didn’t believe I was experiencing numbness and even my own mother didn’t. I was simply told by her to stand up and walk straight.
I lost friends and weeks of work after being hospitalized. I was told I couldn’t move out anymore because of my condition. I had to completely change the way I eat, constantly researching what I can and cannot consume. I had to do home physical therapy and receive nurse visits. I could no longer drink alcohol, which made me feel excluded socially.. which I was, especially by my supposed best friend but I no longer consider her that..
This all started in April, and I still haven’t been given medication yet. It’s been incredibly stressful, but one silver lining has been realizing who truly supports me. It’s also pushed me to fall in love with myself and stop taking others’ judgment so personally. Stress triggers my relapses, so I’ve had to let go of caring too much 😮💨.
I want to make this page to open discussions of chronic diseases and make posts of AID recipes (I’ve been cooking a lot!)
