10HR DAY IN THE OPERATING ROOM

2024/7/10 Edited to

... Read moreWorking a 10-hour shift in the operating room can be both demanding and fulfilling. Essential tasks include ensuring that all instruments are sterile and ready before procedures, conducting the Bowie Dick Test for sterility checks, and coordinating with the surgical team for smooth transitions between cases. During my shift, I encountered various situations including preparing for multiple surgeries, which required meticulous attention to detail. After successfully completing the first case, I moved to the second operation, where decontamination protocols were strictly followed. Moreover, regular checks for outdated supplies were critical in maintaining safety standards, emphasizing the importance of constant vigilance in our roles. The camaraderie shared among team members contributes to a positive work environment where support and encouragement are paramount. Reflecting on the day, I felt a deep sense of accomplishment knowing that our efforts play a vital role in patient care. Shifts like these not only test our skills but also allow us to grow and learn in our professions. It's essential for healthcare professionals to embrace these challenges, as they ultimately shape our careers and impact the lives of those we serve.
