But for us in sterile processing and surgical tech, Hump Day often feels like just another intense day in the OR, but with that mid-week energy dip! I remember one particular Wednesday, feeling that familiar drag, but also the buzz of anticipation for what the day would bring. My morning usually kicks off in the locker room, swapping my street clothes for scrubs. Sometimes, I even wear my favorite colorful striped socks just for a little secret boost of morale under my scrubs. It’s those small rituals that get you ready for the demanding day ahead. After getting changed, it’s all about focus. Today was a lot about G.I. cases, which means meticulous care for those delicate endoscopes. It’s not just wiping them down; it’s a multi-step process that needs absolute precision to ensure patient safety. We often use specialized solutions like ASP CIDEX OPA, and then perform rigorous checks with test strips to verify disinfection levels. You really rely on quality products like 3M Comply indicators to ensure everything is perfectly sterile before it even leaves our department. Of course, there are always unexpected curveballs thrown your way. I clearly recall a time our main STERIS machine had an 'OUT OF SERVICE' sign flashing ominously on its screen. Talk about a Hump Day headache! We quickly had to pivot to alternative methods, ensuring all medical scopes were processed correctly in blue bins and then perfectly stored in our specialized cabinets, ready to go.
