I’m learning that peace comes when I stop insisting on my way. When I surrender my expectations and submit my plans, I make room for God to move in ways I never could on my own. His timing doesn’t rush. His will doesn’t fail. His plan doesn’t miss a detail. And when it all unfolds, the glory doesn’t belong to me—it belongs to the One who was faithful all along.
As someone embracing the role of a Christian homemaker, I have found that one of the greatest challenges is letting go of controlling every detail and trusting in God’s perfect timing and plan. The phrase from the image, "God’s timing, not mine. God’s will, not mine. God’s plan, not mine," resonates deeply with me because it captures the essence of surrender that brings peace. Early on, I used to structure every day meticulously, setting high expectations for what needed to be done—whether it was managing the household, caring for my family, or nurturing my faith. But I often felt overwhelmed and frustrated when things didn’t go as planned. It wasn’t until I consciously began to surrender my own agenda and became more receptive to God’s guidance that I experienced a profound transformation. Trusting God’s timing means embracing patience and understanding that there is a divine rhythm to our lives. When I allow space for God’s movement, I notice blessings unfolding in ways I wouldn’t have arranged myself. This doesn’t mean giving up responsibility, but rather aligning my efforts with faith and surrender. Submission to God’s will has also taught me humility and grace, especially in moments when life doesn’t match my expectations. Instead of resisting changes or unforeseen challenges, I seek to see them as part of a larger purpose—God’s plan which is both intentional and perfect. This mindset has helped me reduce anxiety and cultivate a heart of gratitude. For fellow homemakers and stay-at-home moms (SAHMs), the journey can sometimes feel isolating or monotonous. However, framing homemaking as a spiritual vocation where everyday tasks are acts of faith and service has enriched my experience immensely. Whether it’s preparing meals, cleaning, or fostering a nurturing home environment, these acts are opportunities to glorify God quietly. Ultimately, surrender is not about inaction but about partnership with the One who is faithful. When I stop insisting on my way, I find peace—the peace that surpasses understanding—as God’s plan unfolds, detail by detail, beyond what I could imagine. This continuous journey of faith strengthens both my homemaking and spiritual life, reminding me that the glory belongs not to me, but to God who remains constant and true.
