Totoro Rock
Totoro Rock in Noto (official name: Tsurugi Gongen Rock) is located in Odomari, Monzen-cho, Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Because it resembles a character from the Studio Ghibli animated movie My Neighbor Totoro, it is nicknamed this rock.
Location and Features
Location: Odomari, Monzen-cho, Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture
Characteristics: It is a rock carved over a long period of time by the rough waves of the Sea of Japan, and is located right next to the national highway. Locals also call it "Tateiwa no Gongen-san."
Current state: Due to the influence of the Noto Hanto Earthquake in Reiwa 6, the part corresponding to the "left ear" of Totoro collapsed, but it can still be seen today.
Access and parking.
Located along National Route 249, it is a spot where you can stop by while taking a break from driving.
Access: Take National Route 249 from Nishiyama IC of Noto Satoyama Kaido.
Parking: There is a free parking lot (not dedicated, but with a Totoro Rock sign) and it is available.
トトロ岩は、能登半島の豊かな自然の中に位置し、ドライブや散策の合間に気軽に訪れられるスポットです。地震による崩落後も、訪れる観光客の間では変わらず人気を集めています。私が訪れた際には、国道249号線沿いの無料駐車場を利用し、道の駅赤神も近くにあったため休憩しやすかったです。 写真撮影を楽しむ方も多く、岩の曲線がまるでトトロの耳のように見えるポイントは特に注目です。また、地元の方は「立岩の権現さん」と呼び、昔から親しまれてきた自然のアートとして大切にしています。 観光で訪れる際は、風の強い日や波の荒い時期は足元に気をつけることが大切です。周辺の自然散策と合わせて 、ゆったりとした時間を過ごすのにぴったりな場所だと感じました。
