🥾 Codfish Creek Falls is one of those quiet, underrated waterfall hikes that reminds you why Northern California still wins.

It’s a very easy riverside hike follows the North Fork of the American River for roughly 1.4 miles before turning upstream at Codfish Creek to the falls.

💧 Waterfall Stats
• Total height: 68 ft
• Near-vertical drop: 40 ft
• Lower cascade: 28 ft


☀️ Best Time to Visit
• Morning: sun hits the falls directly
• Afternoon: more shade + better photography (less harsh contrast)

There’s a steep user trail leading to the top of the falls. Backtrack slightly from the base and you’ll spot it.

🚙 Getting There (Important)
The final stretch down Ponderosa Way is slow, rugged, and bumpy.
High-clearance or 4x4 recommended unless you enjoy white-knuckle driving.
