Knee pain? Try this.
This is one of my go to drills whenever I’m feeling any kind of knee pain. It’s called flexion knee gapping. Roll up a towel and place in between the back of the knee creating a gap. This creates space for your knees to breathe.
Try it out. Let me know what you think. #kneestrength #kneemobility #kneepainexercises #mobilitywork
Knee flexion gapping is an excellent mobility technique designed to alleviate discomfort and promote better function in the knee joint. By placing a rolled towel behind the knee and gently creating a gap, this drill helps to increase space within the joint capsule, allowing the tissues to decompress and "breathe." This method can be particularly helpful for those experiencing stiffness, mild pain, or tightness. Incorporating this practice into a broader knee care routine can significantly improve mobility. Find a comfortable seated or lying position, place a moderately firm rolled towel behind your knee, and allow your leg to rest gently against it. Hold this position for several minutes, focusing on relaxing the muscles and joints. In addition to flexion gapping, it's beneficial to engage in complementary exercises that focus on knee strength and mobility. Incorporating movements like gentle knee bends, straight leg raises, and controlled stretches helps support the surrounding muscles such as the quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves. Stronger muscles reduce strain on the knee joint and promote stability. Pay attention to your body's signals during these exercises. If pain intensifies or persists, consider consulting a healthcare professional to rule out more serious conditions. For ongoing wellness, combine these exercises with proper warm-ups before physical activity, adequate hydration, and maintaining a healthy weight to minimize knee stress. Remember, consistent knee care including flexion gapping and strengthening exercises can enhance your overall joint health and keep you moving comfortably. Try incorporating this technique daily and share your experience to inspire others dealing with similar knee challenges.
