Title: “4,000 Miles of Shadow and Light”

I wrote these words at 3 a.m

When the moon confessed her sins to me,

and silence dripped like candle wax

upon the ghost of what we’ll always be.

Though oceans hum their mournful tune,

and miles stretch cold between our hearts,

no distance born of the mortal realm

can tear our tethered souls apart.

Through storms that whisper grief and flame,

through laughter that defies the night,

I’ll walk beside you, shadow-bound,

a wraith of warmth, a guiding light.

For even when the dawn forgets

the dreams we carved in twilight’s breath,

our bond, obsidian, unbroken

defies both time and quiet death.

Bestie of my haunted soul,

no force shall turn this friendship

for though the world may shift and fade,

I linger ever by your side.
