Watching AJ Campos on Hulu’s Crush was such a refreshing experience for me. It’s rare to find a character who embodies so much light and joy without the story revolving around trauma or coming out struggles. AJ’s confidence in her identity and her passion for both athletics and art reminded me how important it is for queer representation to show characters living their fullest lives. The way she balances being a track star with her secret mural painting adds a unique depth, breaking common stereotypes found in media. One thing that really stood out to me was the slow-burn romance between AJ and Paige. Their witty banter and genuine growth throughout high school made the love story feel authentic and heartwarming. It’s those sweet, everyday moments—like first dates, supporting each other’s talents, and sharing school milestones—that make this film a comfort watch for anyone craving positive queer narratives.
