เวลาหาคำศัพท์ในกูเกิล เรามักจะเจอเป็นคำเดี่ยว ๆ เช่น defend แปลว่าอะไร, defeat แปลว่า, support แปล หรือ solution แปล แต่ถ้าอยากจำให้แม่นและเอาไปใช้ได้จริง วิธีที่เวิร์กมากคือ “จำเป็นคำคู่ตรงข้าม (antonym)” เพราะสมองจะเชื่อมความหมายเป็นแพ็ก ทำให้ไม่ลืมง่ายค่ะ คำว่า antonym คือ “คำที่มีความหมายตรงข้ามกัน” เช่น wide–narrow, deep–shallow พอจำเป็นคู่ เราจะนึกภาพได้ทันทีว่า narrow ตรงข้ามกับ wide (กว้าง–แคบ) และเอาไปแต่งประโยคได้เลย เช่น The road is narrow. (ถนนแคบ) ขอเสริมคำที่คนค้นหาบ่อย พร้อมตัวอย่างสั้น ๆ ให้ใช้ได้ทันที: - defend (ปกป้อง/ตั้งรับ) ↔ attack (โจมตี): We must defend our team. / Don’t attack others online. - victory (ชัยชนะ) ↔ defeat (ความพ่ายแพ้): They celebrated victory. / He accepted defeat. - support (สนับสนุน) ↔ disapprove (ไม่เห็นด้วย/ไม่อนุมัติ): I support your decision. / Some people disapprove of it. - solution (ทางออก/วิธีแก้) ↔ crisis (วิกฤต): We found a solution. / The company faced a crisis. - demand (อุปสงค์/ความต้องการ) ↔ supply (อุปทาน/การจัดหา): Demand is high, but supply is low. - advantage (ข้อดี) ↔ disadvantage (ข้อเสีย): What’s the advantage of this plan? คำศัพท์น่ารู้ที่หลายคนพิมพ์หาเพิ่ม: - pessimistic แปลว่า “มองโลกในแง่ร้าย” (ตรงข้ามกับ optimistic มองโลกในแง่ดี) - exhale แปลว่า “หายใจออก” (ตรงข้ามกับ inhale หายใจเข้า) - โพล้เพล้ ภาษาอังกฤษใช้ว่า dusk (ช่วงพลบค่ำ) ตรงข้ามกับ dawn (รุ่งเช้า) - n แปลไทย: ในพจนานุกรม n. = noun (คำนาม) - cheep แปลว่า “เสียงร้องจี๊บ ๆ ของลูกนก” (ถ้าหมายถึง “ถูก” ต้องสะกด cheap) ทริคที่ช่วยให้ท่องได้จริง (เหมาะกับน้อง ๆ ป.5 หรือคนเตรียมสอบ): เลือกวันละ 5–10 คู่ แบ่งเป็นหมวด (ลักษณะ/อารมณ์/คำกริยา/คำนาม) แล้วแต่งประโยคคู่ละ 1 ประโยค เช่น wide 1 ประโยค + narrow 1 ประโยค ทำแบบนี้ 7 วันจะได้คลังคำศัพท์เพิ่มแบบใช้งานได้ ไม่ใช่แค่จำความหมายอย่างเดียวค่ะ
