How did the four-month-old child learn the animal world? 🐾

"Phoebus, see, son? There's a dog there."

When he takes his four-month-old child outside, he often wonders how much Phoebus sees in front of him. Does he know that it is a dog, a cat, a bird, or a fish swimming in an aquarium? Is it really useful to bring a small child to an animal?

The answer is useful, but not so that the child remembers the name of the animal or recites what it is.

Four months old, the cubs are learning the world through sight, hearing sounds, movement, and having a familiar person next to them. Animals walking, flying, or swimming may draw the cubs' attention and be a new experience of looking and listening.

Children are not just as close-up as at birth, and their vision has improved, and they can see and follow things that are far away, and they are interested in moving objects, but they still do not see details like adults.

So when you see an animal, you don't have to bring Phoebus near it.

If you're at a safe distance, Ma Mi or Wang can hold your baby, point that way, and say exactly what happened.

"Look, son, there's a dog there."

"The cat is walking."

"Hear that? That's a bird."

"Birds fly, baby."

"Look, the fish is swimming."

You may still not understand the meaning of the word "dog" or "fish" and do not need to understand it now. It is important that he see it and hear the words and tone of familiar people.

One of the main things about developmental psychology is to observe what you are interested in and talk about it instead of trying to force them to focus on what we want to show you.

If Phoebus is looking at a fish, he says, "Phoebus is looking at a fish," or "The fish is swimming that way." This is a time when adults and children are interested in the same thing and interact together as part of their communication and social learning that evolves with age.

But if you don't look, that's fine.

At times, Mami may be excited about the elephant in front of him, but Phoebus is more interested in the leaves, light, or face of Mami. 4-month-old children do not have to respond every time, do not turn their faces, and do not have to recurse to force.

You can go to the zoo, but you don't have to look at all of them, you don't have to walk in all zones, you don't have to expect your child to recognize animals. Seeing some animals, listening to the sounds around them, looking at trees, and resting when you're tired is enough.

The aquarium is another interesting place for young children, because fish are constantly moving and swimming around, but do not need to take their children to the mirror or force them to look at every cabinet.

Whether it's a zoo or an aquarium, it's important to be comfortable with the cub. Notice whether the cub is getting sleepy, stumbling, facing away, or looking tired. Because a new location may have a lot of light, sound, people, and movement. Children of this age do not need to stay with the trigger for long.

And getting your child familiar with animals doesn't mean catching or touching them. Especially animals we don't know. Four-month-olds still can't protect themselves or understand how to treat animals safely. Looking from the right distance is a good place to start.

Most importantly, do not expect too much from a single exit. Research on child-animal relationships is useful to study, especially in older children, but we should not exaggerate the conclusion that taking a 4-month-old child to see an animal will make him smarter or more compassionate than other children directly.

For Phoebus, to meet animals today is to gradually find the earth.

Don't bring it near everything.

Do not make every body see

Not to turn every leaving the house into a lesson.

Just live a normal life, and when a bird flies by, a dog walks away, or a fish swims in front of it, it invites you to look safely and talk about what's going on.

One day Phoebus may not remember seeing an elephant at four months old or the first fish he ever looked at.

But in the days when he was still too small to go out and explore the world himself, Ma Mi and Wang were bringing the world a little bit at a time.

"Phoebus, see, son? There's a dog there."

Maybe what he's learning isn't just about the dog.

But there are many new things in the world, and every time they look, there are people they trust to look at the world together. 🐾
