This cafe operates from a HDB flat!

Hello zesties 🍋

It’s been a long time, much has happened since my last post! I left my old and I’m currently funemployed again 🥲, but today my adventures take me to Waterloo Cafe!

This cafe has been appearing on my Tiktok and Insta feeds and some friends have been telling me about this place, so I decided to give this place a look. It was a little tough to find Block 263 among the 4 interconnected blocks (261-264) but once you see the long queue outside the store you’ll know you are in the right place. Once I was at the store, they required me to scan a QR code to order and set a pickup time so technically you can place orders in advance!

I went for an iced matcha latte, and it was presented with a delicious salted brownie on top! The packing and presentation of the drink was nice, but the matcha taste was not as strong as I would have liked. I personally prefer my matcha grassy and heavy-tasting, but if you prefer something milder this would definitely be a good place to get it!

... Read moreIf you’re planning a visit to Waterloo Cafe, here are some tips based on my experience and insights from other visitors. The cafe is tucked beneath a cluster of low-rise HDB blocks near the running oval, which is why it might be tricky to locate at first. Look out for the long queue as a clear sign you’ve arrived! The cafe operates with a modern twist by using QR codes for ordering, allowing you to pre-order and choose a convenient pickup time which helps avoid a long wait. While I opted for the iced matcha latte, I noticed baristas often recommend lighter options like the plain latte for a creamy but balanced taste. The cafe’s menu also features other interesting coffee blends and desserts, perfect to explore if you want a late-night treat or a chill spot near Waterloo Street. This cafe’s ambiance really shines at night, making it a nice find for night owls seeking a cozy niche beneath a public oval. Don’t miss their dessert nook which perfectly complements the coffee selection, believed to be a favorite among locals. This fusion of a neighbourhood setting and specialty coffee culture keeps drawing curious foodies and coffee lovers from all over Singapore. If you’re community-oriented or simply love discovering hidden gems under HDB blocks, Waterloo Cafe is a sweet spot worth adding to your list!

Recently completed a short coffee barista course and the course instructor recommended Double Shot Coffee. While I had this pinned on my Google map for some time, I haven’t made my way here although i had given their next door neighbour (Grey Area Coffee Roasters) a visit. Similar to Grey Area,
