Last week I tried the Revision Skincare DEJ BioStim Topical Treatemt. This topical biostimulator helps stimulate collagen, strengthen the skin barrier, and improve overall skin quality at a deeper level. It contains BHA, AHA, as well as dicarboxylic, phenolic, and triterpene acids. It requires a series of three treatments to see full results.

I’ll be honest;my skin isn’t sensitive, but I don’t usually do many intensive treatments, so I don’t think my reaction is typical. I definitely had to go into full skin barrier repair mode, which I know how to handle well. When your barrier is disrupted, it’s best to stay away from all actives and keep your routine as simple as possible.

@Experiment Beauty Glycerin Serum is my go-to for hydration;it holds moisture better than HA for me. And of course, @LaRochePosayUS Cica Balm is always a favorite when my skin needs extra love. I’m not usually into slugging, but I wanted to lock in hydration, so I used @AquaphorUS and stayed out of the sun. I also love the @Tatcha Silk Sunscreen; it’s one of the best zinc oxide sunscreens I’ve tried.

A week later, everything flaked off, leaving my skin smooth and glowing! Since this treatment requires three sessions, I think I’ll do it again; but I’ll definitely plan ahead, knowing I may peel for 3–5 days.

... Read moreAfter trying the Revision Skincare DEJ BioStim treatment, which contains a powerful blend of BHA, AHA, and various acids, I realized just how important proper skin barrier care is when using intensive skincare products. The bio-stimulation process effectively promotes collagen production, which is essential for maintaining skin elasticity and reducing fine lines. However, this comes with the side effect of peeling for several days, as my skin revealed a smoother, glowing layer beneath. I found that incorporating a glycerin-based serum, like the one from Experiment Beauty, into my skincare routine was far more effective for hydration than traditional hyaluronic acid serums. Glycerin attracts and holds moisture excellently, which helped in my barrier repair phase. Additionally, using La Roche-Posay's Cica Balm provided essential soothing and barrier support for my skin when it felt irritated. Slugging with Aquaphor was a strategic choice to lock in moisture overnight, especially since skin post-bio-stimulation can be vulnerable to dryness. This extra protection also helped improve healing speed and comfort during the peeling phase. Sun protection is critical in this routine—Tatcha’s Silk Sunscreen with zinc oxide offered broad-spectrum protection while feeling lightweight, preventing hyperpigmentation during skin recovery. Planning ahead for the bio-stimulator’s three-session treatment cycle is key; expect peeling and downtime of up to 5 days after each session. For anyone considering this treatment, having a simplified skincare routine focused on hydration and protection, alongside avoiding actives during recovery, will yield the best results. My experience shows that despite the initial challenge of managing barrier disruption, the long-term benefits of improved skin texture and firmness are well worth it.
