I Hope This Isn’t a Hot Take

i firmly believe that if kids aren’t allowed to express themselves while they’re young, all the curiosity causes energy blockages in the body later in life.

just out here trying my best with the tools i’ve been given 🫶🏼✨🧚🏼‍♀️🤎🪼

... Read moreFrom my personal experience as a parent, I’ve seen firsthand how supporting children’s self-expression can greatly impact their emotional development. When kids are allowed the freedom to explore different aspects of their identity—whether it’s through clothing, play, or interests—it helps them build confidence and reduces confusion as they grow. For example, a child who enjoys painting nails or trying on different personas isn’t just experimenting; they are discovering parts of themselves in a safe environment. Creating a home where gender fluidity is accepted helps children understand that everyone has both masculine and feminine qualities. This understanding fosters empathy and a healthy self-image, reducing anxiety or energy blockages that can arise from suppressing natural curiosity. Allowing children to ask questions and express their feelings openly builds trust and communication within the family. In practice, when my child showed interest in activities traditionally associated with a different gender, I chose to celebrate that curiosity instead of restricting it. I would listen, validate their feelings, and encourage them to explain what made those activities meaningful to them. This approach not only supports a child’s individual identity but also promotes emotional resilience. Raising children in this inclusive way requires patience and openness from parents and caregivers, but the benefits are profound. Children grow up knowing they are accepted for who they are, which prepares them for healthier relationships in adulthood. Ultimately, nurturing self-expression is about more than just gender—it’s about honoring the unique person your child is becoming and helping them thrive emotionally and mentally.
