We’ll see if my #orchid comes back or not 🥲 maybe she is a #survivor #plants #plantsoftiktok
As someone who has faced the challenge of reviving a struggling orchid myself, I can attest that patience and careful care matter a lot. When I first noticed my orchid wilting and losing roots, I felt overwhelmed, but I decided to treat it step by step. First, I cleared out the old orchid mix, removing all the rotted and stringy roots. It’s important to use sterilized tools like clean shears to prevent any infections spreading. Next, I prepared a fresh orchid mix that’s slightly drier on the side, ensuring good drainage to avoid root rot. Repotting requires gently filling around the roots without crowding them too much. One tip I learned is to avoid overwatering right away; orchids appreciate some drying time between watering to encourage stronger root growth. Another thing I tried was a light hydrogen peroxide spray on the roots and leaves to help combat any fungal issues—just be cautious not to overdo it. After repotting, I placed the orchid in a spot with bright but indirect sunlight, since too much direct light can further stress the plant. Patience is key here. Orchids often take weeks or even months to show signs of recovery. Mine started producing new baby shoots, which gave me hope that the effort was paying off. Remember, each orchid is different and requires attentive care, so don’t rush the process. If you’re a fellow plant enthusiast or a novice well-meaning plant parent, know that it’s okay to make mistakes. The important part is to learn and keep trying. Your orchid could very well be a survivor, just like mine!
