Was I wrong for asking her to chip in?
So my friend hosted a dinner party and asked me to cook since I’m the “good cook” in the group. I bought all the groceries myself, spent hours making everything, and everyone loved it.
Thing is… she never offered to pay me back for the food. Hosting is one thing, but I felt like I covered her party. So I asked if she could at least split the grocery cost with me, and she got offended—said I was being rude since it was her event.
Now I’m second-guessing. Was I wrong for asking her to chip in, or is it fair since I basically supplied and cooked the whole dinner?

It depends on how the conversation went when she was asking you to cook the food in that conversation. Did she say that she would pay for the groceries? Did you ask her to pay for the groceries at the time that you were grocery shopping for the ingredients did you let her know how much it cost and bring up the amount in her paying you back then if you never had the conversation in the first place and you just agreed to be in the cook, then I wouldn’t expect to get paid back
