My coming out journey has been incredibly transformative, not just for my personal life but also in how I view the world and the beautiful diversity within the LGBTQ+ community. Since I *came out*, it feels like I've gained a *new mentality*—one of openness, curiosity, and a deep desire to understand. This newfound perspective encouraged me to unblock everyone from my mental and emotional space, allowing me to truly engage with the nuances of identity and expression. Before coming out, I often felt confused by the many terms used to describe different sexualities and genders. But now, as part of the LGBTQ+ community, I've realized how important it is to explore and understand these terms, not just for others, but for my own journey of self-discovery. Two terms that often come up in discussions, and that I’ve personally learned a lot about, are 'sexually fluid' and 'pansexual.' When I first heard the term 'sexually fluid,' I thought it meant someone who couldn't make up their mind, but that's not it at all! From my understanding, being sexually fluid means that a person's attractions can change over time. It's not about being indecisive; it’s about a natural evolution or shift in who you're attracted to, regardless of gender. It acknowledges that attraction isn't always static and can flow and change throughout life. For some, this might mean identifying as mostly one orientation but sometimes feeling attraction to other genders, or it could mean their primary attractions shift over years or even decades. It’s a beautiful way to describe the dynamic nature of human connection. Then there's 'pansexual.' This term sometimes gets confused with 'bisexual,' but there's a key distinction. For me, pansexuality means being attracted to people regardless of their gender. It emphasizes attraction to a person's qualities, personality, and who they are as an individual, rather than their gender identity. It's often described as being 'gender-blind' in attraction. While bisexual people are attracted to two or more genders, pansexual people are attracted to all genders (or rather, beyond gender). It’s an expansive and inclusive identity that really resonates with the idea of loving a soul, not a label. Understanding the differences between 'sexually fluid' and 'pansexual' has been so helpful. While my own identity as #wlw (woman-loving-woman) and part of the #lesbiancommunity feels clear to me, learning about these diverse experiences has only broadened my empathy and connection to others. It’s part of that new mentality I mentioned – recognizing that everyone’s journey is unique and valid. It’s about celebrating the spectrum of human attraction rather than trying to fit everyone into neat boxes. This understanding makes me feel even more connected to the #lgbtq🌈 community, knowing there's space for everyone's authentic self, no matter how their attractions evolve or manifest. This journey of learning has truly helped me embrace my authentic self and deepen my appreciation for the richness of our community.

Coming out looks different for everyone. For some it happens all at once, for others it’s a slow process of letting people see who you’ve been all along. It’s not always easy and it doesn’t always go perfectly, but it’s always powerful. The truth is, there’s no right time or way to do it. You ju

Growing Up“Closeted” LGBTQ
