Let’s turn some seaweed snacks into delicious little handheld wraps using whatever you have on hand!
Here’s how I built these:
Start with:
• Roasted seaweed snack sheets
Make a quick salad (use what you have):
• Imitation crab, cooked shrimp, tuna, leftover salmon, or chicken
• Kewpie mayo
• Splash of soy sauce
• Sriracha, to taste
• Rice Wine Vinegar
• 1–2 drops toasted sesame oil
• Salt and white or black pepper
Mix until it’s creamy and scoopable.
Assemble:
• Add a spoonful of the salad to the center of a seaweed sheet
• Top with thinly sliced cucumber, red pepper, carrot… whatever veggies you like
• Finish with any extras like sriracha, chili crisp, furikake, everything but the bagel seasoning, or green onions
Fold it up and eat it like a little taco.
It’s one of those “use what you have” meals that somehow feels a little more fun and exciting than it should… and I’m not mad about it 😋
I love how versatile these seaweed wraps are, especially when you want a light snack or a simple meal. One thing I’ve found useful is experimenting with different protein options based on what I have at home—leftover cooked shrimp or canned tuna works great and adds richness to the salad. Adding Kewpie mayo is a game-changer because it’s creamier and slightly sweeter than regular mayo, perfectly balancing the sharpness from the soy sauce and the zing from sriracha. For the veggies, I often add crunchy cucumber slices and shredded carrots, but sometimes I get creative with whatever’s fresh like radish or bell peppers. The toasted sesame oil really enhances the flavor, so I recommend not skipping it. Seasoning with either white or black pepper depends on your preference, but both add a subtle warmth. I’ve also tried adding a sprinkle of furikake or “everything but the bagel” seasoning on top for an extra savory touch—it’s incredible how much these little additions boost flavor complexity. Folding the wraps like mini tacos makes them easy to eat and perfect for casual gatherings or quick lunches. What makes these wraps stand out is how they turn simple seaweed snacks into a satisfying, nutritious bite that feels special yet uses everyday ingredients. They’re an excellent way to use up leftovers, and you can always adjust the spice level or toppings to fit your taste. Whether you’re making a quick lunch or a light dinner, these seaweed wraps offer a delicious and refreshing option that’s also fun to assemble and eat.
