The other night I was watching Fast Five when something caught my attention.
Dom's Challenger doesn't sound like a stock SRT8.
In fact, it doesn't really sound like any production Challenger.
Hollywood replaced the sound with something bigger. Meaner. More dramatic.
It made me think.
We spend a lot of time talking about unrealistic expectations when it comes to people, but we rarely talk about how entertainment has shaped the car community.
Movie cars almost never exist in real life.
They have impossible engine sounds. Impossible acceleration. Perfect paint. Unlimited budgets. Zero reliability problems.
Then we walk into our garage and compare our very real car to something that was created in a recording studio and edited on a computer.
Maybe that's why so many enthusiasts feel like their car is never enough.
