Shadow work confession

From personal experience, I've found that much of what feels like anger is actually a signal from my body and mind that I'm overwhelmed and exhausted. This exhaustion doesn't necessarily stem from external conflicts but from an internal struggle of carrying responsibilities and emotions that aren't mine to bear. Shadow work has been transformative in helping me identify those unseen burdens—expectations to always be strong, to be the caretaker, and to maintain peace at the cost of my own well-being. In my journey, I realized that learning to acknowledge that not every problem or emotional labor belongs to me was the first step toward healing. It's a process of gently setting down these weights, which can be incredibly challenging after years of over-functioning and over-giving. The benefit, however, is tremendous: increased energy, improved nervous system regulation, and a clearer sense of self outside of imposed roles. Integrating shadow work practices, such as reflective journaling and mindfulness, allowed me to explore my 'shadow' aspects—the parts of myself conditioned to carry others' burdens unconsciously. Understanding matrescence helped me appreciate how motherhood and related life transitions amplify these feelings, demanding even more emotional labor. Incorporating spirituality into this process provided a supportive framework, grounding me as I navigated nervous system dysregulation caused by chronic exhaustion. Overall, the path isn't about suppressing anger but recognizing that what appears as anger may be the body's way of communicating deep fatigue. By consciously acknowledging and releasing these effects through shadow work, one can cultivate healthier boundaries and embrace a more balanced, empowered self.
