Avinos in Bellport NY

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Avino's in Bellport, NY for a delightful family brunch, and I just had to share my experience! Nestled in charming Long Island, this spot has a cozy atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed meal with loved ones. We were looking for a nice place to enjoy some quality time and good food, and Avino's definitely delivered. To start, I tried their unique ginger beer with apple bits. It was such a refreshing twist! The drink had a pleasant ginger kick with a subtle apple flavoring that wasn't overpowering. It tasted like a regular ginger beer but with that little extra something. My family also enjoyed their drinks, with one of us having a cappuccino with a rock candy stick stir – a small, fun detail that really stood out. For appetizers, we dove into the soup of the day: potato and bacon soup. And let me tell you, it was very tasty! The potatoes were cooked perfectly, soft and comforting, and the bacon added a wonderful savory texture. It was served nice and hot, which was perfect for a cozy brunch. My dad, ever the seafood enthusiast, thoroughly enjoyed the mussels! He mentioned how the dish had a lovely citrusy taste, likely from a hint of lemon juice, which really helped enhance the flavors. He was quite impressed, even though I forgot to snap a picture before he started digging in! For the main course, we had the chicken and pasta. The chicken itself was good, cooked well and flavorful. The pasta and chicken together made for a satisfying dish. However, if I had one small critique, it would be that the pasta sauce by itself needed a bit more seasoning to truly elevate it. It wasn't bad, but a little salt or herbs would have made it perfect. Of course, no brunch is complete without dessert! We opted for the salted caramel ice cream with pecans. (Though, I must admit, I'm still not entirely sure if they were pecans or walnuts, lol!) Regardless, the ice cream was incredibly creamy and had a fantastic texture thanks to the nuts added to it. It was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. Overall, our family brunch at Avino's in Bellport, NY was a wonderful experience. The food was generally delicious, the atmosphere inviting, and it's definitely a place I would recommend for anyone looking for a nice meal on Long Island. I'm already thinking about what I'd try next time!
