The BMA copied a 1,100 km headway pipe to cope with the '69 rains, speeding to completion May, ready to order dark checks, construction points and contractor management, often easy.
BMA Accelerated Drainage Preparedness Before the Rain Comes! Governor Chachchan, meeting the heads of Bangkok's agencies, followed up the pipe-digging plan of '69, summarized the progress as follows:
📍 flush the drain. 1,117.4 km of progress, nearly 30% of the 3,811.7 km target (data as of Feb 4, 69), and the remaining 2,694.3 km are being accelerated to completion by May as scheduled.
📍 dredged the canal ditch. Forward dredged a total of 322.40 km of key canals to optimize the flow of water.
Maintain canals and store waste, covering 171 canals throughout the city.
The governor reiterated, "The authorities must take it seriously," instructing the Civil Works Bureau and all districts to dark the construction point if contractors are found dumping waste or debris into the drain, ordering decisive action, and expediting to explore how many utilities are currently operating and encroaching on canals, waterways, drainage systems.
