The BMA improved the corridor along the canal, "walkable, well-spun, connecting the city."
Bangkok developed a footpath-bicycle path along the canal, a distance of 47.5 kilometers, from the metropolitan area to Nong Grail, promoting Bangkok people walking-cycling, welding seamless public transportation.
The Chapple Canal Corridor Improvement Project, an extension of the Cycle Path along the Chapple Canal, aims to enhance quality of life, enhance safety and ease of movement of citizens along the Chapple Canal, while promoting bicycle and pedestrian use as sustainable urban traffic alternatives, including enhancing drainage efficiency and reducing sewage problems in the Chapple Canal.
The canal is a major canal, used to drain and commute, connecting public transport - commuters, buses and electric trains. The development of the canal corridor makes it more convenient to travel from port to house and places, with a total of 95 kilometers on both sides.
Currently, the BMA has completed the construction of a reinforced concrete dam with about 62.62 kilometers of walkways and bicycles, and about 15.18 kilometers is under construction to continuously interconnect the corridor from the city area to Nong Grail.
The current phase of operation, encompasses several major phases of construction and improvement projects of the Cassava Canal that, in addition to enhancing drainage efficiency and reducing sewage problems, improve the canal landscape to be cleaner, orderly and even more pleasant to use.
The corridor along the canal is designed to accommodate the public's use of walking, cycling, exercise and leisure along the canal.

The BMA aims for a range of routes through the sky-bobe-sluice-Ashoka-gold-cast-canal-ramkhamhaeng-temple-sriphongkong-Bang to be in continuous use by mid-2026.
The Bang-Meenburi range is expected to be completed in 2027, and the Meenburi-Nong Grail range has a budget plan for 2027, with a total of 47.5 kilometers expected by 2029 to build a city that is walkable, spinning, linking every journey and truly livable for everyone.
จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวที่เคยใช้เส้นทางเดินและปั่นจักรยานเลียบคลองแสนแสบ พบว่าการมีทางเดินที่ดีและปลอดภัยช่วยเพิ่มความสะดวกสบายและความมั่นใจในการเดินทางมากขึ้น โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งการที่ทางเดินนี้เชื่อมต่ออย่างต่อเนื่องจากเขตพระนครจนถึงหนองจอกได้เป็นระยะทางไกล ทำให้การเดินทางระหว่างโซนใจกลางเมืองถึงชานเมืองสะดวกและปลอดภัยมากยิ่งขึ้น การออกแบบที่ยึดหลัก Universal Design ด้วยสะพานและทางลาดสำหรับรถเข็นและจักรยาน รวมถึงการติดตั้งไฟส่องสว่างตลอดเส้นทาง เพิ่มความปลอดภัยต่อผู้ใช้ในทุกช่วงเวลาของวัน นับว่าเป็นการส่งเสริมการเดินเท้าและการปั่นจักรยานในเมืองที่น่าชื่นชม นอกจากนี้ การพัฒนาทางเดินเลียบคลองยังช่วยแก้ไขปัญหาน้ำเน่าเสีย และเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการระบายน้ำในคลองแสนแสบได้อย่างชัดเจน ทำให้คลองสะอาดขึ้น รูปแบบภูมิทัศน์ริมคลองก็สวยงาม น่าจะช่วยส่งเสริมกิจกรรมพักผ่อนหย่อนใจริมคลองและสร้างความเป็นชุมชนมากขึ้นด้วย การที่โครงการมีแผนเร่งดำเนินการให้เส้นทางใช้งานได้ต่อเนื่องภายในกลางปี 2569 และครบถ้วนในปี 2572 จะเป็นการยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตคนกรุงเทพ มีทางเลือกในการเดินทางที่หลากหลายและยั่งยืนมากขึ้น รวมถึงเป็นการส่งเสริมให้กรุงเทพฯ เป็นเมืองเดินได้ ปั่นดี ที่เชื่อมโยงระบบขนส่งสาธารณะต่างๆ อย่างครบวงจร นับเป็นแนวทางที่น่าสนับสนุนสำหรับการพัฒนาเมืองในอนาคต
