Rice wrapped in a bee garden
The tradition of eating wrapped rice (or hami thong) is a Karen tradition held in the ninth month (August) to summon and ward off hapless, in that the ninth month is believed to be a bad month, malignant spirits are livable and can cause people to get sick or die.

ประเพณีกินข้าวห่อสวนผึ้งถือเป็นประเพณีเก่าแก่ที่ไม่เพียงแต่เป็นการเรียกขวัญและปัดเป่าเคราะห์ร้ายเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นโอกาสในการสร้างความสัมพันธ์ในครอบครัวและชุมชนอีกด้วย ที่สวนผึ้งจะมีการเตรียมข้าวห่อด้วยใบผาก หรือใบตองอย่างพิถีพิถัน และมีการจัดเครื่องเคียงพร้อมน้ำจิ้มหวานที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ พิธีกรรมเรียกขวัญ เช่น การผูกข้อมือและการจุดเทียน ยังแสดงถึงความผูกพันทางจิตวิญญาณที่ชาวกะเหรี่ยงเคารพอย่างลึกซึ้ง นอกจากความสำคัญทางวัฒนธรรมแล้ว ผู้มาร่วมงานยังจะได้เพลิดเพลินกับการแข่งกีฬาพื้นบ้าน สังสรรค์ในบรรยากาศชิลๆ พร้อมสัมผัสการตกแต่งที่สวยงามด้วยดอกกล้วยไม้และไม้ไผ่ การถ่ายรูปภายในงานก็เป็นกิจกรรมสนุกสนานที่ช่วยเก็บความทรงจำดีๆ ไว้ จากประสบการณ์ที่ได้เข้าร่วมงานนี้ ผมอยากแนะนำให้ทุกคนลองมาสัมผัสด้วยตัวเอง เพราะไม่เพียงแค่ได้เรียนรู้ประเพณีแท้จริง แต่ยังได้สัมผัสความอบอุ่นของชุมชนและวัฒนธรรมที่ยังคงมีชีวิตชีวาอย่างเต็มเปี่ยม
