Zingiber zerumbet is a herbaceous plant in the ginger family (Zingiberaceae), as well as ginger, ginger, and sapphire. It is herbaceous, with underground rhizomes, an artificial stem 1-1.5 meters high, consisting of leaf bracts wrapped together.
The flowers are bouquets rising from an underground rhizome, shaped like a pine fruit, with lobes stacked in layers like fish scales, with small true flowers inserted between the scales. The color of the bouquet is both green and bright red.
Blossoms and rhizomes can be eaten as vegetables or put in chili juice. The rhizomes have the properties to nourish the elements, help expel the digestive fluid, anorexia, flower to nourish the elements, cure yellowing, chronic fever, cold fever, tremor. In the past, the parts of the leaves and stems were used to wash the hair, so it was also called Shampoo Ginger.
It is a traditional Thai folk plant, common in evergreen forests throughout all parts of the country. Popular propagation brings young shoots or rhizomes apart from the original clump.
