Purple Blossom Beautiful Orchid Discovered at Khao Grandpa-Khao Grass National Park
Researcher's version of the secret story...Knowing the wild orchid by the National Park Innovation Research and Development Center, Surat Thani Province, is introduced to another wild orchid, Calanthe masuca (D.Don) Lindl.
This kind of orchid explored at Khao Grandpa-Khao Granny National Park, Phatthalung, 0 - 1,200 meters above sea level, is a ground orchid, a small head above the soil, a leaf cover, a leaf, an oval tip, a pointed elliptical lance-shaped sub-leaf, shaven or hairy above and below, a loose inflorescence, hairy, an inflorescence stalk up to 50 centimeters long.
Blossoms Pink to pinkish purple, sometimes white with pink lebellum, calyx is pointed ovate, glabrous or hairy on the outside, petals ovate back, rounded or pointed, midpetals with lanceolate to kidney-shaped leaves, often edged, at the middle petal cone, with cylindrical-shaped spikes, tip of concave petals.
It is found distributed in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Taiwan, Japan, Peninsula Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands, Borneo, Sulawesi, Thailand found in evergreen and scrubland, flowering in November-December.
