Long-bearded lion, fragrant quaint orchid at Sri Phang Nga National Park

A long-bearded lion, found at Sri Phang Nga National Park, Phang Nga, 100 - 400 meters above sea level, is an orchid based on an elliptical banana leaf with one leaf at the end of the leaf, a parallel edge shaped, 2.5-3 centimeters wide, 10-15 centimeters long.
The inflorescence is an umbrella bouquet, 15-20 centimeters long, with 2-7 sub-flowers, full bloom 7 millimeters wide, fragrant, light yellow upper sepals and reddish brown lines, off-white double sepals and light pink lines longitudinally to the tip of the petals, up to 20 centimeters long, some petal edges joined together, triangular petals, slightly serrated petals margins, darker oral petals than others.
Found in Myanmar, Borneo, and Malaysia, it is classified as Thailand's only endemic plant, found only along rainforests, moist in the south, flowering during September-November.

สิงโตเครายาวเป็นกล้วยไม้ป่าที่มีความพิเศษไม่เหมือนใคร เนื่องจากเป็นพืชถิ่นเดียวของประเทศไทย จึงมีคนน้อยมากที่ได้เห็นหรือศึกษาละเอียด จึงอยากแชร์ข้อมูลที่เป็นประโยชน์สำหรับผู้สนใจปลูกหรือชื่นชมกล้วยไม้ชนิดนี้ สิงโตเครายาวเจริญเติบโตดีในป่าดิบชื้นที่มีระดับน้ำทะเลตั้งแต่ 100-400 เมตร ทำให้เหมาะกับสภาพอากาศภาคใต้ และมีความลับอยู่ที่กลิ่นหอมของดอกกล้วยไม้ที่แตกต่างจากกล้วยไม้อื่นๆ ซึ่งช่วยดึงดูดแมลงเข้ามาผสมเกสรอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ จากประสบการณ์การเดินศึกษาพืชในอุทยานศรีพังงา พบว่าช่อดอกของสิงโตเครายาวที่ยาวประมาณ 15-20 เซนติเมตร พร้อมกับดอกขนาดเล็ก 2-7 ดอกที่มีกลิ่นหอมเต็มไปด้วยความน่ารักและน่าตื่นตาตื่นใจ ใครที่ชื่นชอบการเก็บข้อมูลพรรณไม้ หรือถ่ายภาพธรรมชาติ แนะนำให้วางแผนมาในช่วงฤดูออกดอก คือ กันยายนถึงพฤศจิกายน เพื่อชมความงดงามของสิงโตเครายาวในธรรมชาติอย่างเต็มที่ โดยภาพที่อ่านจาก OCR ก็ยืนยันว่าสิงโตเครายาวถือเป็นหนึ่งในกล้วยไม้ที่กรมอุทยานแห่งชาติปลูกผสมผสานกับการวิจัยและพัฒนานวัตกรรมไม้ป่า ที่น่าสนใจคือกล้วยไม้ชนิดนี้มีคุณค่าทั้งด้านความสวยงามและเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพในพื้นที่ภาคใต้ของไทย สำหรับผู้ที่สนใจนอกจากการไปเยี่ยมชม ยังสามารถศึกษาข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมจากศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนานวัตกรรมอุทยานแห่งชาติ สุราษฎร์ธานี เพื่อนำความรู้ที่ได้รับไปอนุรักษ์และเผยแพร่ต่อได้อย่างยั่งยืน
