This species of orchid explored at Noprat Thara Beach National Park - Phi Phi Islands, Krabi Province, 100 - 1,000 meters above sea level. It is a small inhabited orchid, growing in both tropical and warm regions.
The head is clearly quite broad flat. The leaves have 5 - 6 leaves. Upright, like a strip. The tip of the leaf is rounded. The tip of the leaf has unequal bifurcation. The leaves are thin but hard, like leather. The leaf cones are narrower.
There are 15 - 40 flowers, arranged close together. The petals are quite round, yellow-green, with a mild aroma. The bouquet is quite small. The color. The flowers turn red when the flowers are about to sprinkle or when they are mixed. Flowering all year round.
It is found in Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo and Java, in riverine montane forests and montane forests. In Thailand, it is found in southern montane forests, at altitudes of about 100-1,000 meters.

กะเรกะร่อนดอกเขียว หรือ Cymbidium chloranthum Lindl. เป็นกล้วยไม้ที่มีความโดดเด่นทั้งในด้านรูปลักษณ์และถิ่นที่อยู่อาศัย ซึ่งพบในพื้นที่ป่าดิบชื้นริมแม่น้ำและป่าดิบเขาในภูมิภาคต่าง ๆ ของอาเซียน รวมถึงป่าภาคใต้ของประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะในอุทยานแห่งชาติหาดนพรัตน์ธารา-หมู่เกาะพีพี จังหวัดกระบี่ ความโดดเด่นของกะเรกะร่อนดอกเขียวอยู่ที่ดอกสีเขียวอมเหลืองที่มีขนาดค่อนข้างเล็ก แต่เรียงชิดกันจำนวนมากถึง 15-40 ดอก และมีกลิ่นหอมอ่อน ๆ ที่ช่วยดึงดูดแมลงผสมเกสร ดอกไม้ชนิดนี้ออกดอกช่วงเดือนมิถุนายนถึงกรกฎาคม และจะเปลี่ยนเป็นสีแดงเมื่อดอกเริ่มโรยหรือได้รับการผสมเกสรแล้ว นับเป็นสัญญาณชีวะวิทยาที่สำคัญในการชีววิทยาการสืบพันธุ์ของกล้วยไม้ชนิดนี้ กะเรกะร่อนดอกเขียวเจริญเติบโตเป็นกล้วยไม้อิงอาศัยที่ต้องการสภาพแวดล้อมที่มีความชื้นสูงและอุณหภูมิที่เหมาะสมในระดับความสูง 100-1,000 เมตรเหนือระดับน้ำทะเล ทำให้พื้นที่อุทยานแห่งชาติหาดนพรัตน์ธาราและหมู่เกาะพีพีพีเหมาะอย่างยิ่งสำหรับการอนุรักษ์และศึกษากล้วยไม้ชนิดนี้ ในด้านความสำคัญทางนิเวศวิทยา กะเรกะร่อนดอกเขียวช่วยส่งเสริมความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพในระบบนิเวศป่าดิบชื้น โดยทำหน้าที่ในการประสานกับแมลงผสมเกสรชนิดต่าง ๆ ที่เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของห่วงโซ่อาหารในระบบนิเวศเดียวกัน สำหรับผู้ที่สนใจการอนุรักษ์กล้วยไม้ป่า ควรตระหนักถึงความเปราะบางของถิ่นที่อยู่อาศัยและหลีกเลี่ยงการรบกวนธรรมชาติ การศึกษาวิจัยและเผยแพร่ความรู้เกี่ยวกับกล้วยไม้ป่าดังกล่าวโดยศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนานวัตกรรมอุทยานแห่งชาติ จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี ถือเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการส่งเสริมการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติอย่างยั่งยืน ในสรุป กะเรกะร่อนดอกเขียวไม่เพียงแต่เป็นกล้วยไม้ป่าที่มีลักษณะพิเศษเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพรวมถึงความสำคัญในการรักษาสมดุลของระบบนิเวศป่าดิบชื้นในประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะในพื้นที่อุทยานแห่งชาติหาดนพรัตน์ธารา-หมู่เกาะพีพี ซึ่งเป็นแหล่งธรรมชาติที่สวยงามและควรได้รับการหวงแหนและดูแลรักษาอย่างใกล้ชิดต่อไป
