The term Red Flag does not stem from the fiction industry.
Originally, it was the English word for "danger warning flag."
It has been around since the 18th century.
Before being used in the metaphorical sense that
"A warning sign that something may be in trouble."
Then the online world applied to relationships.
And then gradually branch into Green Flag, Beige Flag, Black Flag and other colors that we see today.
