Evaluating an expression means substituting variables with actual numbers and simplifying the result — for example, f(2) = 4(2) + 7 = 15. Algebraic equations set two expressions equal to one another, such as 3x + 12 = 8x - 3, and the goal is to solve for the unknown variable by isolating it using inverse operations. This process often involves applying the order of operations and algebraic properties like the distributive, commutative, and associative properties. My own experience learning algebra was much easier once I memorized these properties and practiced solving various problems where each step made logical sense. Confidence grows by working through examples that illustrate how to simplify expressions, substitute values, and solve equations methodically.
