Plus, it preps them perfectly if I plan to apply a fresh set. Another key part of my routine is giving my nails at least 24 hours between sets to breathe and recover. During this break, I apply nourishing nail creams multiple times a day—my favorite is onyx hoof cream because it deeply hydrates and strengthens the nails with a pleasant scent. If you can extend the break even longer, your nails will thank you by growing healthier and less brittle. Consistent hydration is crucial; dry nails are more prone to breakage and peeling. Drinking plenty of water and using cuticle oil regularly throughout the day helps maintain nail flexibility. Finally, prep before applying press-ons is just as important as removal.
