My Loc Journey✨

June 2023 i decided to loc my hair . I literally remember it like it was yesterday . My hair always been really really thick but still course . I hated doing my hair… i really just wanted to wake up & go . Having locs changed my hair hygiene A LOT .

Pros:

- Low manipulation

- You start to love yourself inside & out

- Learning moisturizer is VERY important

- Your styles become your signature

- Your hair can grows fast

- You can still get braids & wigs

- @Pinterest❤️ & @Lemon8 Beauty is bae with styles

Cons:

- You need a retwist every 2-3 months

- Finding the best loctician for YOUR locs

- Remembering to tie your hair down

- Remembering oil is your new bestie

- Learning no-retwist styles

I have had days where i wanted to comb my locs out & some days i was in love . Over all it’s a process so don’t compare your journey to NOBODY else’s but your own . Remember whatever you put inside must come out . Drink WATER WATER WATER ! Have fun with your hair & learn it . It’s you & you are a beautiful Queen or a handsome King 👑!

... Read moreLocs, also known as dreadlocks, represent a unique and empowering hair journey that many people embrace for various reasons, ranging from cultural significance to personal expression. The journey of maintaining locs can differ significantly from traditional hair care, offering both challenges and rewards. For many, one of the biggest benefits is the low maintenance associated with locs. With reduced need for daily styling and manipulation, individuals can enjoy more free time. However, locs require specific care to thrive, including the need for regular retwisting every couple of months to maintain their shape and health. Finding a skilled loctician is essential, as they will provide the best guidance for your unique hair texture and style preferences. Additionally, learning to incorporate oils effectively into your routine can prevent dryness and breakage—a common concern with locs. Many practitioners emphasize the importance of hydration; drinking plenty of water ensures that your body and hair remain healthy. While transitioning to locs can be challenging, it often leads to a beautiful journey of self-discovery. Locs can symbolize personal growth, spiritual connection, or simply a freeing experience from societal hair expectations. Many people also share their styles online, creating a community of support and inspiration for each other. Remember, everyone's loc journey is unique. Celebrate your individual experiences and the progress you make, sharing your growth and insights with those around you. Whether you're just starting out or have been loc'd for years, there's always something new to learn and share in the world of locs.

My loc journey was different! Flew by super fast! I stopped getting my hair done professionally about 3 years ago because I haven’t found a loctition yet that I align with. I dye, retwist and style my hair myself although I’m not big on styling. I remember when I first got my locs, some lady at

I started with keeping my hair in two strand twists back in February to get to the idea of locs. Then I waited for it to loc from the twists but I was still nervous. A few did loc but a couple of days ago, I took the plunge and started to locs this way. Now it’s time to wait to see the outcome.
