Skin cycling for dry skin 🤯👀

Skin cycling is when you have a routine specifically and intentionally for each night. Each night is focused on a specific ingredient that you keep the main focus and not mix with other harsh ingredients to get a reaction or irritation. This is basically rotating your specific products each night.

Here is my three favorite ingredients that I always rotate :

- glycolic acid

- retinol

- lactic acid

Keeping these three separated from each other is key! Doing this routine keeps my skin not irritating and get the max benefits!

The key is to avoid overwhelming your skin with multiple active ingredients at once, which often leads to redness or sensitivity. For dry skin, incorporating glycolic acid, retinol, and lactic acid on alternating nights allows each ingredient to work effectively without overstressing the skin barrier. I personally use a nourishing moisturizer like Caudalie's Premier Cru La Crème Riche after applying these actives to help lock in hydration and soothe the skin. On my 'glycolic acid night,' I focus on gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin cells, which helps my other products penetrate better. Retinol nights stimulate skin renewal and improve texture, but since retinol can be drying, spacing it appropriately prevents irritation. Lactic acid nights provide a hydrating form of AHA exfoliation that also supports skin barrier repair. Brands like Drunk Elephant and Kiehl's offer effective formulations that suit sensitive or dry skin types well, and their products often include supportive ingredients to minimize irritation. It’s important to monitor your skin’s responses and adjust the frequency if you notice increased sensitivity. Overall, skin cycling has helped me achieve a smoother, more radiant complexion without the dryness or redness I used to experience when combining these ingredients randomly. If you’re dealing with dry skin, try this methodical rotation approach and complement it with rich, hydrating creams to keep your skin balanced and glowing.
