Those random waves of sadness…

Okay, tell me if this is just me…

but do you ever get those random waves of sadness out of absolutely nowhere??

Like I’ll be fine, joking around, doing my routine… and then boom.

My mood drops and I’m suddenly quiet and in my head.

It’s such a weird feeling because there’s no trigger. No reason.

Just this heavy little cloud that shows up uninvited 😭

My therapist said it happens when you’re healing and your nervous system is still learning how to regulate…

which makes sense, but I still never know what to do when it hits.

So I’m genuinely curious:

How do YOU deal with sudden sadness when it hits out of nowhere?

Do you distract yourself? Sit with it? Cry? Take a walk?

I wanna know what works for other people too 💛👇 #cozychats #lemon8challenge #GirlPOV #sad #mood

... Read moreIt's such a relief to hear others talk about these random waves of sadness that hit out of nowhere. Seriously, one minute I'm totally fine, laughing and going about my day, and then BAM! My mood drops, and I'm engulfed in this heavy, untriggered sadness. It's like a cloud just descends, and suddenly I'm quiet and stuck in my head, wondering what just happened. That insight from a therapist about it being part of healing and nervous system regulation really resonated with me. I've been doing a lot of inner work lately, and it makes sense that my body and mind are still adjusting to processing old emotions or releasing stored tension. It's not always about a current event; sometimes it's just your system recalibrating. When this sudden sadness hits, it’s a powerful reminder that healing isn't linear, and sometimes the biggest breakthroughs feel like the heaviest moments. So, when I get hit with sadness out of nowhere, I've been trying a few things to navigate it, rather than just getting swept away. First, I try to acknowledge it without judgment. Instead of fighting the feeling or asking myself "Why now?", I'll simply say, "Okay, this is here." Sometimes just naming it helps to soften its grip. I’ve found that trying to suppress it just makes it linger longer. Another thing that helps when my mood drops unexpectedly is gentle movement. I don't mean a full workout, but something kind to my body. A short walk outside, even just around the block, can shift my perspective. Or sometimes, it's just stretching on the floor, releasing some of the physical tension that often accompanies emotional dips. Journaling is also a lifesaver for me. Just getting all those murky thoughts out onto paper, without needing to make sense of them, can be incredibly cathartic. It’s a safe space for whatever comes up. I also lean into comfort. This might mean a warm cup of tea, wrapping myself in my coziest blanket, or putting on some calming music. It's about creating a little cocoon of safety and self-care. And sometimes, when it feels too overwhelming, I just allow myself to cry. There's so much release in a good cry. It’s not about finding a solution, but about letting the emotion move through me. It's a journey, and discovering what truly helps me deal with it in the moment is an ongoing process. We're all in this together, learning to navigate these complex emotions.

Sadness Is a Parasite Sadness is a parasite— it drains joy quietly. It starts small: a bad day, a forced smile. But it grows. It multiplies, spreads, sinks into every corner of your mind. Even sunlight turns gray. Bad days become weeks, then months, then years. Forced smiles fa
