Fun things to do in Miami 🌴

... Read moreThinking about things to do in Miami with kids? Let me tell you, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is an absolute must-visit, especially if your little explorers are fascinated by marine life! I recently took my own family, and we were blown away, particularly by the incredible Aquarium and its famous underwater tunnel. Walking through the aquarium tunnel felt like stepping into an underwater world. My kids (and honestly, I too!) were completely mesmerized. Above us, a majestic hammerhead shark glided gracefully, flanked by countless schools of vibrant diverse fish. You literally feel submerged in the ocean, with rays and other marine creatures swimming all around you. It's such an immersive experience, making learning about ocean ecosystems feel like an adventure rather than a lesson. They loved pointing out all the different types of fish and trying to spot the biggest ones! Beyond the tunnel itself, the entire Frost Science Museum aquarium is a treasure trove. There are multiple levels showcasing different South Florida aquatic habitats, from the Everglades to the Gulf Stream. Each exhibit is designed to be interactive and engaging for all ages. We spent ages watching the colorful coral reefs and learning about the delicate balance of these environments. It's not just about looking; there are hands-on stations that explain currents, fish behavior, and conservation efforts, which really sparked my children's curiosity. If you're planning a visit with kids, here are a few tips I picked up. Try to go first thing in the morning when it opens, or later in the afternoon, to avoid the biggest crowds – the tunnel can get quite busy! We found going right after lunch worked well for us. Wear comfortable shoes, as there's a lot to explore. Don't forget to check their website for daily shows and demonstrations, like animal feedings, which add another layer of excitement. They also have a fantastic gift shop, but be warned, your kids will want everything! While the aquarium was definitely the highlight for my little ones, the museum offers so much more. The incredible planetarium shows are breathtaking, taking you on a journey through space, and the other science exhibits cover everything from the human body to the physics of flight. It truly offers a full day of stimulating activities for curious minds. They have dedicated areas for younger children too, with plenty of space for hands-on discovery and play. Overall, if you're searching for an engaging and educational activity for kids in Miami, the Frost Science Museum and its spectacular aquarium tunnel should be at the top of your list. It provides fantastic memories and a wonderful opportunity for children to connect with science and nature in a fun, interactive way. Trust me, it's worth every penny for the smiles and wonder you'll see on their faces!
