This activity was used in a parents' day out program for age 3 kiddos. Unless you've worked in childcare, you'd be amazed to see how hard it is for kids to rip paper. It's a fundamental skill that uses the same pincher grasp that you need to hold a pencil.
Today, my kiddos and I read a book about apples and then ripped paper and glued it onto our apple papers. When they were finished ripping and gluing, I let them color the leaf and stem of their apple. They loved it! I definitely recommend this activity if you need an easy low prep fine motor activity.
