Day 26 Before Air Force BMT: My First Public 5K
Today happened to be Global Running Day, so I decided to run my first public 5K.
The run itself wasn’t the biggest lesson.
The biggest lesson was learning how much of running is mental.
A lot of people focus on pace, distance, and speed. But if your mindset breaks, your body usually follows shortly after.
A few things that have helped me:
✅ Set mental checkpoints during runs
✅ Learn where your “wall” is
✅ Track your progress consistently
✅ Challenge yourself safely and gradually
✅ Trust the process even when improvement feels slow
