I remember when father could call in the nuns…

It must be a Saturday night.

The nuns…

Especially Sister Veronica.

She’s the closest to Father Gibson.

She sometimes is in eyes to oversee my Sunday schooling.

I alway remember when she joined..

How it felt..

The searing pain of her hand griping my scalp.

As she would spit words in my face in Latin.

I learned very early on in life, that the rules my mother drilled into my head. Were for her benefit… To protect her social standing.. How others of the congregation perceived her. - Smile at everyone - Sit Straight - Don’t cross your legs. - Speak only when directed to answer.
