Disability Pride

Did you know that July is Disability Pride Month. It's all about embracing and being proud of who you are as a person living and doing life with a disability or disabilities no matter if it's physical or invisible. Show up and show out as your true self.

History: Disability Pride Month occurs in the United States every July to commemorate the passing of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in July 1990.

Sidenote: Disability Pride Month is not only for women but for all genders, races, ages, and different disabilities. This image just went well with my aesthetics, and it showed variety for the physically disabled and invisible disabled.

How do you show your disability pride? Share below.

... Read moreDisability Pride Month serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of embracing one’s identity and fostering a sense of community among individuals with disabilities. Established in July to commemorate the Americans with Disabilities Act, this month is about celebrating the richness of diverse experiences that come with different forms of disabilities, whether they are visible or invisible. During this time, individuals are encouraged to share their stories, support one another, and raise awareness about the ongoing fight for equal rights and accessibility.  Engagement in Disability Pride Month can take many forms, from participating in local events to spreading awareness through social media. Celebrating diversity within the disability community also means highlighting the intersectionality of identities, championing voices from various backgrounds, and advocating for inclusivity across all aspects of society. This is a time for education and conversation, as understanding the unique challenges faced by individuals contributes to a supportive environment.  As part of your celebration, consider reflecting on your own journey with disability, whether it's through art, writing, or community activism. Small actions, such as sharing resources or connecting with others, can significantly impact raising awareness and fostering a sense of belonging in the community. How do you celebrate your disability pride? Join the conversation and be part of this essential acknowledgment of shared resilience and pride.
