Judge them not

Building on the idea that discernment is a precious gift from God—a way He reveals truth to us, not just what we wish to see—I've found this skill to be absolutely transformative in my own walk of faith. It's not about being judgmental in a condemning way, but rather about seeing with spiritual eyes to understand situations and people more deeply. And when it comes to others, discernment helps me understand if a situation or person is drawing me into something that goes against my values, allowing me to protect my spiritual well-being. It’s about being wise as serpents and innocent as doves, as the Bible says. The more I practice discernment, the more I feel I understand the characteristics of God himself. He is truth, wisdom, and love. When I discern right from wrong, truth from deception, or choose love over fear, I feel I'm aligning with His nature. It truly feels like God is showing me 'how things really are,' peeling back layers of illusion. It's a continuous learning process that deepens my faith and my appreciation for His incredible wisdom and guidance in every aspect of life. This gift speaks volumes about His desire for us to walk in clarity and understanding. Applying discernment in relationships has been a game-changer. We often hear quotes about trusting our gut, but spiritual discernment goes deeper. It's about asking: 'Is this relationship drawing me closer to God's purpose for my life, or distracting me?' 'Are this person's actions consistent with their words?' I remember a time when I was unsure about a new friendship. I prayed for discernment, and slowly, patterns emerged that helped me understand the true nature of the connection. It wasn't about judging the person, but discerning the spirit of the relationship and whether it was healthy for me.
