Manten Sushi Nihonbashi
10/4 Edited to

... Read moreDuring my multiple visits to Manten Sushi in Tokyo, I've found that the charm of this omakase lies not just in its affordability, but in the thoughtful curation of seasonal and fresh ingredients that elevate every dish. One standout was the Crab Chawanmushi—a silky egg custard infused with sweet crab meat that balanced savory and delicate flavors perfectly. It’s a dish I wished I could reorder several times. The Uni Handroll impressed me with its freshness and creamy texture, a rarity that makes each bite melt effortlessly. Similarly, the Tuna Handroll was a delight, generously sized with extra rice on request, making it both filling and delicious. Despite usually not being a fan of octopus, the lightly cured octopus chutoro was an exception; tender and well-seasoned, it was surprisingly easy to enjoy. A highlight for me was the use of yuzu in several dishes, like the Yellow Tail topped with yuzu flavoring and the unique uramaki with yuzu mayo, adding a refreshing citrus twist that enhanced the taste. Sweet scallops brushed with soy sauce and the red prawn with mentaiko and homemade tofu were other exquisite bites that showcased the chef’s skill in balancing flavors. To cap off the meal, I savored Kyoho grapes that burst with sweetness and had a skin that popped easily in the mouth — the perfect palate cleanser. It’s clear that Manten Sushi carefully selects each ingredient and seasonally changes the menu to keep the dining experience exciting. For anyone looking to enjoy authentic omakase in Tokyo without breaking the bank, Manten Sushi’s 22-course meal priced at 8800 yen (around $88) offers incredible value. Booking ahead is recommended as seats fill up quickly owing to its popularity among locals and travelers alike. This is truly a must-visit spot for sushi lovers seeking a memorable and affordable culinary adventure.

Manten Sushi Marunouchi (まんてん鮨) delivers one of the best-value omakase experiences in Tokyo at ¥8,800 per pax. The highlight for me was the uni roll—rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced—along with the fatty tuna, which was beautifully marbled and melted in the mouth. Fresh ingredients, smooth pacin

Value for money omakase!
🤩 $115 for 11 courses, premium ingredients like Hokkaido Oysters, A5 Wagyu, Uni, and fresh sashimi is really value for money. Local chef, non-traditional hole in the wall spot. Definitely better than average for this price range, and would recommend the restaurant to non-Japanese food snobs!
