Please guys…we really need to stop this

Sorry for the serious post but this is something that I fully believe in. I’m not sorry if you don’t agree with me, “It’s just a joke!” How is it funny, is it funny that kids are being exposed to this, haha so funny that a child that has only been in this world for a short amount of time is reading a extremely graphic and depicting scene between (hopefully) adult people. I am not bashing the authors of smut. I’m bashing the people on booktok, I’ve only sence people do this there, putting their books in kids sections. Please, if you see a book that you know is not met for kids, please move it to a more appropriate section. This isn’t the only problem in the book community but it’s one of the most important to me. Booktok, please do better. Share to spread awareness.

... Read moreThe conversation around children's access to literature is increasingly relevant in today's digital age. Platforms like Booktok are influencing what young readers encounter, and the blending of adult themes into children's sections raises grave concerns. It's not merely about personal tastes in reading; it impacts developmental psychology and societal perspectives on intimacy and relationships. Studies suggest that exposure to graphic content at a young age can alter cognitive functions, including decision-making abilities. Children are often attracted to visually appealing book covers, leading parents and guardians to unknowingly purchase inappropriate material. By discussing the categorization of smut and graphic content, this initiative encourages accountability within the reading community. Authors, creators, and consumers must unite to promote a culture where children's well-being is prioritized. This includes advocating for clear labeling of content and vigilant community actions to ensure that books are positioned in appropriate sections, preventing exposure to unsuitable material. It is crucial for everyone in the literary community to recognize their role in fostering a safe and healthy reading environment. By adhering to responsible practices, we can collectively work towards a safer literary landscape for the younger audience.
