Anger Isn’t the Problem … Silence Is

Men say feminism is toxic. Are some women angry? Absolutely. But what’s missing is curiosity, not criticism. Centuries of oppression don’t dissolve politely. Healing begins when listening replaces dismissal—and understanding replaces defensiveness.

... Read moreFrom my personal experience, witnessing discussions around feminism often highlights how silence can be more harmful than outward anger. Many people, especially men, may dismiss feminist perspectives because they don’t ask the crucial question: why are some women angry? This question opens the door to meaningful understanding. Centuries of systemic oppression have left deep wounds that cannot heal with silence or avoidance. Instead, healing begins when people practice active listening and replace dismissal with empathy. I’ve seen that environments fostering curiosity rather than criticism encourage open dialogue and growth. Moreover, understanding replaces defensiveness and allows accountability to thrive. This shift helps challenge patriarchal norms and promotes social justice. Engaging with feminist ideas is not about blaming but about working together to break oppressive systems and build equitable spaces. In my journey, embracing vulnerability and openly discussing these hard truths led to personal growth and deeper connections. It’s clear that silence breaks trust and stalls progress, whereas speaking up and listening closely create pathways for true liberation. Encouraging everyone—regardless of gender—to ask 'why' and listen deeply can transform anger into constructive action. It’s this collective effort that will shape a future where equality isn’t just an ideal, but a reality for all.

Anger is not the problem. Disconnection is.
For a long time, women were taught to be afraid of their anger. To soften it. Silence it. Spiritualise it away. To call it “too much” instead of listening to what it was trying to protect. But anger isn’t violence. It isn’t chaos. And it isn’t something that needs taming. Anger is life force.

Your anger might actually be wisdom.
Women are often taught that anger means something is wrong. That we’re being emotional. Overreacting. Dysregulated. But anger is actually a boundary emotion. It shows up when something inside you recognizes that a line has been crossed… or that something in your life needs to change.
