Our Sunday ride ended with a Grab 🤣
Today my husband brought me on a little cycling exploration. 🚴♀️
Hort Park → Kent Ridge → Labrador Park → Sentosa Cove.
Kent Ridge. This route was new to me.
And… the slopes.
Oh my goodness.
Short.
Steep.
Narrow.
One slope… ok.
Second slope… still ok.
By the third slope, I surrendered.
I got off and started pushing my bike. 🤣
If I didn’t count wrongly, there were about six slopes in total.
My legs were already negotiating with my brain:
“No more next time pls?” 😆
But after Kent Ridge…
the ride all the way down to Labrador Park was a breeze.
Finally.
Wind in the face.
No more climbing. Woohoo!
That part was really fun.
We stopped at HarbourFront for a coffee break before continuing.
Then came the real challenge: Sentosa Cove.
Long… gradual… never-ending slope up.
By the time we reached, I was totally exhausted.
We sat down to rest.
He had his beer.
And of course I had my must-have 100PLUS. 😆
Just sitting there, catching my breath while watching the sky turn gloomy.
We quickly made our way out…
but before we could even exit Sentosa, it started to drizzle.
We waited…
but it didn’t stop.
So my husband said,
“Let’s just Grab back to the car.”
Honestly… I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Part of me thought:
“Haiyoh… why didn’t it start to rain before those slopes?”
But another part of me thought:
“Ok la… no need to cycle all the way back to Hort Park.” 🤣
Still… today I’m a happy girl.
Sometimes the best moments are just this:
• Exploring new routes.
• Laughing at my weak legs.
• Simple bonding time.
Coz life shouldn’t only happen on weekends.
Hope u had a beautiful Sunday… or a day as adventurous as mine! Cheers! 🍻

Cycling through the varied terrain of Singapore has always been an exhilarating experience for me, and the route from Hort Park to Sentosa Cove offers a perfect balance of challenge and scenic relaxation. I've tackled slopes that are short, steep, and narrow before, and I can relate to the feeling when your legs start negotiating with your brain to take a break. Pushing the bike uphill is not a sign of weakness but rather a smart way to conserve energy for the longer rides ahead. One of the highlights of this journey is the descent from Kent Ridge to Labrador Park—the wind in your face and the relative ease after challenging climbs make it incredibly rewarding. It’s that moment when you realize the hard work is paying off, and you get to enjoy the scenery and a sense of freedom that cycling brings. Stopping for coffee at HarbourFront is a great way to recharge. Whether it’s a strong brew or a refreshing 100PLUS drink, these little breaks turn the cycling trip into a full sensory adventure. Taking the time to rest and absorb the surroundings helps keep spirits high before facing the next big challenge, such as the long, gradual slope up to Sentosa Cove. The experience of enjoying a cold bottle of beer after a demanding ride adds to the charm of cycling days. Even if the weather turns gloomy and a drizzle starts, sometimes the best decision is to take a Grab or cab back, allowing you to end your day comfortably while still feeling accomplished. Being out there exploring new routes not only strengthens physical fitness but also strengthens bonds with your cycling companion. Laughing over tough slopes, sharing small moments of rest, and embracing the unpredictable elements of outdoor exercise transform these rides into cherished memories. For anyone considering cycling in Singapore, especially on weekends, these routes combined with an open mindset towards new adventures and unexpected changes can offer unmatched joy and personal growth. Always prepare for diverse terrain and weather, and remember that sometimes, the best moments come from spontaneity and enjoying life’s little surprises along the way.
