Why does the body recover slower nowadays? 🥲

Do u also realise… the older we get, the harder it becomes to stay active consistently? 😅

Was under the weather the whole week, but this morning I dragged myself out for a pickleball session 😊

When we’re younger,

exercise is often about looking fit or losing weight.

#Pickleball #HealthyLifestyle #MentalWellness #RealLifeThoughts #SingaporeLife

But as we grow older,

health somehow starts becoming more important than appearance.

We just want:

more energy,

less body aches,

better sleep,

and enough strength to continue doing the things we enjoy.

Especially during stressful or mentally tiring seasons,

moving the body abit really helps the mind too 😊

Today’s session wasn’t anything intense.

But sweating abit,

laughing abit,

and getting the body moving again honestly felt pretty good 💛

How about u?

Have u been taking care of your health lately too

... Read moreAs we age, our bodies naturally undergo changes that can impact how quickly we recover from physical activity or illness. This slower recovery is influenced by several factors including decreased muscle mass, reduced bone density, and a decline in the efficiency of cellular repair mechanisms. One personal experience I found helpful is incorporating low-impact exercises like pickleball, which not only helps keep the body moving but also boosts mental wellness. Activities that cause us to sweat a bit and laugh with others can reduce stress and improve mood, which in turn supports better overall health. Additionally, nutrition plays a crucial role in recovery. Ensuring adequate protein intake helps preserve muscle mass, while staying hydrated supports metabolic processes critical for healing. It’s also important to focus on quality sleep as it is during rest that the body regenerates tissues and replenishes energy reserves. During mentally tiring or stressful periods, even short sessions of movement can invigorate the mind and body. I’ve noticed that after being under the weather, a light session brought renewed strength and lifted my spirits. This highlights the interconnectedness of physical activity and mental health. For those like myself juggling busy schedules and natural aging, maintaining a consistent routine with moderate exercise, balanced nutrition, and sufficient rest can significantly enhance recovery speed and quality of life. Small changes such as regular walks, stretching, or engaging in social sports like pickleball can make a meaningful difference. Have you noticed changes in your recovery times as you get older? What activities help you feel energized and mentally refreshed? Sharing these experiences can motivate others to prioritize their health and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.

Longer rest doesn’t make you a slacker 😤
Most people wear it like a badge of honour when they rest 30-60 seconds between sets. As though they are fitter than others. What they don’t know is that rest dictates the quality of the next set. I have spend 10 years optimising my training around 9-5 schedules and I am going to give some

Not all stress is visible
Some stress lives quietly in your body.   In your jaw.   In your shoulders.   In your constant alertness. 🌫️ Being strong all the time is draining.   You’re allowed to soften. 🤍 You don’t have to carry everything alone.   Even if you’ve always been “the strong one.” Save this for hard

Awareness to break cycles instead of reliving them
