Epcot Space 220 Resturant!

Stepping into Epcot's Space 220 restaurant is truly an out-of-this-world experience, and it all starts before you even reach your table! Many people ask about the Space 220 elevator experience, and let me tell you, it's unlike anything else at Disney World. As soon as you check in, you're guided into the 'Stellarvator,' a simulated space elevator that genuinely makes you feel like you're rocketing 220 miles above Earth. The interior of this 'Stellarvator' is designed to make you believe you're looking out into space. As the doors close, screens above and below you display a panoramic view of Earth receding as you 'ascend.' You can see Epcot's iconic Spaceship Earth getting smaller and smaller, and then before you know it, you're looking at the vastness of space. It's a truly immersive effect, with subtle shakes and sounds that add to the illusion. My kids absolutely loved pointing out landmarks on the 'Earth' below and watching the stars whiz by. This part of the journey really sets the stage for the entire Space 220 restaurant visit. Once you 'dock' at the Centauri Space Station restaurant, the interior continues to impress. The main dining room features enormous 'windows' that offer breathtaking views of Earth, constantly changing from day to night, complete with floating astronauts and passing spacecraft. It's an engineering marvel that instantly transports you to a different galaxy. The ambiance is, without a doubt, a major draw, and truly contributes to an overall nice experience. However, like many unique dining experiences, the food often raises questions, especially considering the price point. While the atmosphere is a solid 10/10, the food I would give 6/10. For the significant cost – our family spent over $300 for two adults and two kids – it really could have been better for the price. We found some dishes to be tasty, but others were just average, not quite matching the premium quality you'd expect when dining 220 miles up (even if simulated!). The lunch menu is typically a prix fixe two-course meal, and dinner is three courses. While the presentation is often creative and fun, the flavors didn't always hit it out of the park for us. So, is the Space 220 elevator experience and dining worth it? For a first-time visit, especially if you're a space enthusiast or have kids who will be captivated by the immersive environment, I'd say yes, it's a unique Disney memory. It’s certainly an overall nice experience from an entertainment perspective. But personally, after trying it once, I might not rush back, mainly because of the price-to-food quality ratio. If you go, make sure to savor every moment of the 'journey' and soak in the incredible views. It's an unforgettable visual feast, even if the culinary one leaves a little to be desired for the price.
