Types of ppl I refuse to be around or befriend

Living in a diverse world means encountering many different mindsets and attitudes, but protecting your mental well-being often requires setting boundaries with certain types of people. From my own experience, distancing yourself from those who promote authoritarianism, racism, homophobia, or toxic masculinity can make a huge difference in maintaining peace and positivity in your life. One group I've consciously avoided includes those who try to impose control over others or cling to outdated beliefs that limit freedom and self-expression. For example, individuals practicing patriarchy or misogyny often create environments filled with inequality and disrespect, which can be emotionally draining to engage with. It's also important to recognize how harmful body shaming or enforcing narrow beauty standards can be. I’ve seen how this behavior damages self-esteem, particularly when people insist women should be a certain size or shape. Being around those who promote such ideas only fosters negativity. Another mindset I steer clear from is the so-called “colonized mentality,” where individuals adopt limiting worldviews rooted in outdated ideologies. This kind of mentality often fuels a lack of accountability and an unwillingness to embrace diverse perspectives, which can hinder personal growth. Lastly, while respecting others' beliefs is vital, I personally find it challenging to connect with those deeply entrenched in Abrahamic religions if their ideology conflicts with my values. It’s about finding common ground without compromising your core beliefs. Setting these boundaries doesn’t mean I harbor hate; rather, it’s about choosing to surround myself with people who promote kindness, accountability, and respect. Creating a supportive social circle like this has made my relationships more authentic and fulfilling.
