STICK TO YOUR ROOTS AND CULTURE.

when you're practicing hoodoo or obeah because they are very similar your foundation is always going to be the church because the church teaches you structure ,guidance and spirit. Most skilled practitioners started from the church. The church teaches you spirit discernment and how to cover thy self against unseen forces. ✨️ A lot of uneducated people think that SPIRITUAL people don't believe in god and thats not true, We just understand thier are certain parts of Christianity that are very outdated and anti progressive. The Bible is a spirtual tool 🔧 and everything depends on the practitioner(intentions). If you're Black American or Jamaican never fully depart from Black Christianity because those are your roots. But just use your spiritual system and combined them with black Christianity elements. rt I still attended church but I will only go to Southern Black American churches because they actually have spirit in those spaces. these are the people that creates gospel music so I will always go to the source. ok bye.

... Read moreFrom my own experience, maintaining a connection to Black Christianity while practicing Hoodoo or Obeah enriches both spiritual growth and cultural identity. The church not only imparts essential lessons in structure and discipline but also fosters a profound sense of community and spirit that many traditional practices thrive on. Many practitioners I know have emphasized the importance of using the Bible as a spiritual tool—its power comes alive through intention and respectful application, rather than literal interpretation alone. This approach allows for a harmonious blend, where the teachings of the church and the ancestral wisdom of Hoodoo or Obeah coexist and complement each other. Moreover, Southern Black American churches often serve as vibrant spaces where spirituality is deeply felt, especially through gospel music and communal worship. Attending such churches has helped me stay grounded in the roots of Black faith traditions while exploring more esoteric and ancestral spiritual paths. In my journey, understanding spirit discernment and learning how to protect oneself against unseen forces have been crucial lessons obtained from the church foundation. These practices have empowered me to navigate both the spiritual and everyday challenges with confidence. Ultimately, embracing one's heritage and spiritual systems does not mean abandoning faith but rather enriching it. For Black Americans and Jamaicans, integrating Hoodoo or Obeah with Black Christianity creates a unique, powerful spiritual practice that honors ancestors and nurtures the soul.
