So many people love this fragrance but it doesn’t work for me. If you like sweet florals, think flormands you may love this one and should get your nose on it.

... Read moreHey fragrance lovers! Following up on my quick thoughts on Fakhama by Maison Asrar, I wanted to dive deeper into why this one didn't quite hit the mark for me, especially since it's often whispered to be an 'inspired-by' version of the beloved Love Don't Be Shy. As someone who's always exploring unique Middle Eastern and Arabic fragrances, I was genuinely excited to get my nose on this one. Let's talk about the notes first, as listed by Maison Asrar. The perfume opens with inviting top notes of Gourmand Accord and African Orange Flower, promising a sweet and slightly zesty introduction. The heart then unfolds with creamy Vanilla and prominent White Flowers, eventually settling into a comforting base of Musk. On paper, it certainly paints a picture of a rich, sweet floral experience – perhaps even leaning into what some call a 'flormand' category, combining floral and gourmand elements. However, when I actually wore Fakhama, my personal experience immediately diverged from what I expected, particularly when considering its alleged inspiration. Love Don't Be Shy, for me, is a masterpiece of sweet, fluffy marshmallow intertwined with a bright, yet delicate orange blossom. With Fakhama, while you do catch a fleeting hint of orange blossom initially, it very quickly transforms into a much heavier, almost thick, white floral presence. It felt less airy and more dense, lacking the specific sweetness and nuanced complexity that makes LDBS so captivating. My impression was that it wasn't my personal favorite iteration of how an orange blossom note could be interpreted, which was a bit of a letdown since I truly adore the overall DNA of Love Don't Be Shy. Beyond the scent profile itself, the most significant disappointment for me was the longevity. I'm talking maybe two to three hours of discernible wear, if I was lucky enough to catch a whiff. For a fragrance with such promising notes, and particularly for a Middle Eastern perfume which often boasts incredible staying power, this was genuinely surprising and quite frustrating. I applied a generous amount from my 5ml sample, hoping it would cling to my skin and project, but alas, it just faded away far too quickly, leaving me wanting more. So, for those of you specifically looking for a true dupe or even a close 'inspired by' counterpart to Love Don't Be Shy, I have to be completely honest: Fakhama by Maison Asrar probably isn't the one. In my honest opinion, the scent DNA is maybe 30% to 40% close at a push. It really doesn't capture the unique magic and staying power of LDBS. I’ve explored many other Maison Asrar fragrances that are absolutely top-tier and fantastic in their own right, delivering on scent and performance, but Fakhama, in this particular comparison, just doesn't deliver what dupe-seekers might be hoping for. If you happen to adore strong, prominent white florals and aren't particularly chasing the LDBS vibe or expecting groundbreaking longevity, then perhaps Fakhama could still be worth a sniff for you. But if you're like me, desiring that specific marshmallowy orange blossom experience from LDBS or simply a long-lasting, beautifully blended floral, you might find yourself a bit underwhelmed. My journey with this 5ml of Fakhama ended in a clear 'no' for a full bottle, but I always appreciate the chance to try new scents and share my genuine thoughts with you all!
