Exfoliating your scalp before and after

2024/3/14 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, so who else felt like their scalp was just… *stuck*? For ages, I was battling an itchy, oily scalp, and no matter what shampoo I used, my hair always felt a bit heavy and lifeless. I’d see flakes and grease and just think, "Ugh, what am I doing wrong?!" I saw so many “before and after” pictures of people’s scalps literally transforming, and that’s when I realized I needed to try scalp exfoliation. And let me tell you, it was a total game-changer for me! My "before" scalp looked exactly like those pictures – visible flakes and buildup. Now, my "after" scalp feels so much cleaner and healthier, creating an optimal environment for hair growth! So, why all the fuss about exfoliating your scalp? Think of it like this: your scalp is skin too! Just like the skin on your face, it collects dead skin cells, excess oil, sweat, and all that product residue from conditioners, dry shampoo, and styling products. This buildup can clog your hair follicles, hindering healthy hair growth and making your hair look dull and greasy. My hair used to lack volume because of all that gunk weighing it down. A good scalp exfoliation clears all that away, allowing your hair follicles to breathe and your hair to grow stronger and healthier. There are tons of great scalp scrubs out there, both physical and chemical. Physical scrubs usually contain fine granules (like sugar, salt, or even coffee grounds!) that gently buff away the dead skin and buildup. When I first started, I used a store-bought scrub, but I quickly realized how easy it is to whip up a homemade version! For those who love a good DIY, here are a couple of my favorite homemade scalp exfoliation recipes: Homemade Salt Scalp Scrub: This is super simple and effective, especially if you have an oily scalp. Ingredients: 2 tablespoons of fine sea salt (don't use coarse salt, it can be too abrasive!), 1-2 tablespoons of your favorite hair-friendly oil (like jojoba, argan, or olive oil), and a few drops of peppermint or tea tree essential oil if you want an extra refreshing tingle. You can also mix the salt directly with a dollop of your shampoo. How to use: In the shower, wet your hair thoroughly. Take a small amount of the mixture and gently massage it onto your scalp using your fingertips. Focus on areas where you feel the most buildup. Avoid scrubbing too hard! Rinse thoroughly until all the salt is gone. Homemade Coffee Scalp Scrub: This one is great for stimulating blood flow and adding a natural shine. Plus, the caffeine can potentially boost hair growth! Ingredients: 2 tablespoons of finely ground coffee (used coffee grounds work too!), 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil or your regular conditioner. How to use: Similar to the salt scrub, apply to wet hair and gently massage into your scalp. The tiny coffee grounds provide a fantastic exfoliation. Rinse thoroughly. I swear, after a coffee scrub, my scalp feels so invigorated! And don't forget the power of an Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) rinse! While not a scrub, it’s an amazing purifying rinse that acts as a gentle chemical exfoliant. Just mix 1 part ACV with 2-3 parts water, apply it to your scalp after shampooing, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse. It helps balance pH and remove residual product. No matter which method you choose, the key is gentle application. You’re not trying to aggressively scrub your scalp raw! Use the pads of your fingertips, not your nails. I usually exfoliate once a week, but if my scalp is feeling extra greasy or I’ve used a lot of styling products, I might do it twice. After rinsing thoroughly, follow up with your usual conditioner, focusing on the ends of your hair. The difference in my hair’s health and appearance since I started exfoliating is truly incredible. My scalp feels so much lighter, less itchy, and my hair has more bounce and shine. It's truly a secret weapon for maintaining a clean, healthy scalp and promoting beautiful hair from the roots up. If you're struggling with buildup, oil, or just want to give your hair a fresh start, I highly recommend giving scalp exfoliation a try!

Exfoliating your scalp before and after 💖💫
Did you know that it is important to exfoliate our scalp since it holds impurities that normal shampoo cannot remove? 🤔💖 Apply it twice every 15 days and your scalp will feel fresher and light 💫🙍‍♀️ If you prefer a commercial exfoliant, you can also buy it. 💰🤑 I like to do this at home. 😎🥰
